Finding Peace Among the Pieces

I bet you’re tired. I bet you’re feeling chaotic and in distress. At this point, I bet you’re lost and confused.

I was too. Maybe I still am.

Everybody goes through something big in their life – something that either changes them, strengthens them or destroys them. The point is, you’re not the only one who’s fighting a battle.

How do you keep it together? How do you keep going?

Look for something positive in every bad situation. Having a bad day at work because of a setback? It’s your time to step up and prove your value in your workplace. Going through a break up? It’s time to rekindle your relationship with your friends and family.

Learn to let things go. Whether it’s de-cluttering your room or you’re slowly leaving your emotional baggage, life is so much easier when you lighten your load. You get to go places faster and happier. You get to open your doors for new experiences without anything or anyone dragging you down. Start with the little things and work your way up. Don’t let anyone dictate your pace.

Accept change. People change. Things change. Everything in life will change eventually. If you refuse to acknowledge it, you’ll get frustrated your whole life. It will be hard at first but it’s your choice to make it worth it. Use the changes to your advantage.

Stop complaining. If you can’t do anything about it, why complain? I once had an ex who was complaining so much about the weather when we were travelling together. I told him “Can you do anything about it?” and he said “No”. But I did something about it. It wasn’t the weather that bothered him. It was his discomfort with the temperature so I went to him and hugged him and I said “All better?”.

Acknowledge your weakness. You don’t always have to be strong. There’s always room and tolerance for mistakes. That’s what makes us human. Ironically, once you acknowledge them, you’ll realize, you’ll get stronger. Knowing your weakness is not enough. You have to work on them also and discover new weaknesses to work with along the way.

It’s not easy to find peace but it’s easier when you start small. Start with the fragments. Little accomplishments can go a long way.
